Hari ni kami makan style German original habis.
Bratwurst mit Pellkartoffel und Sauerkraut.
Bunyi cam otai kan. Seperti biasa di blog ini, sebenarnya tak otai mana pun..
Mamak masak, Mami took pictures.
After all, integration only functions when it comes from both directions.
German meals like any other meals usually consist of three components . The Meat part, the Veg part and the Sättigungsbeilage (pengenyang perut) which is the Carb part.
The Meat part:
Bratwurst.
Brat is to fry and wurst is sausage.
Bratwurst is type of sausage made from pork. Betul tak tipu. Heheh...Gempaq2! Alahai kalau dah namanya Wurst kat Jerman ni, mana ada guna daging lain dah. Tapi jgn risau, banyak option Bratwurst halal...kuikuikui...Berlambak..cthnya yang ni..Ours are made from a mix of ayam biasa and ayam piru (sapa taktau makna ayam piru angkat tangan.!!)
Prep : he grilled them in the oven. 20-25 mins 200°C.
The Veg part:
Sauerkraut.
Sauer is masam and Kraut is a plant or a herb.
Basically soured or fermented cabbage. Yang susahnya nak beli normal Sauerkraut. Pelik tapi benar. Its seem normal unseasoned Sauerkraut susah nak cari in most grocery stores. The big problem (for us) was most Sauerkraut that are sold, are usually seasoned with white wine or Speck which is bacon.
That day, maybe our rezeki, we found this Bio Sauerkraut in its original form.
Ingredients: Cabbage and seasalt.
Sronotnya..both of us almost jumped with joy in the store (also pelik tapi benar case)..heh..
Prep: throw in the Sauerkraut in a pot and simmer with a spoonful of mustard. Season with salt.
The Carb part:
Pellkartoffel.
Pell is peel and Kartoffel is potato.
Bab ni senang dan takdak masalah. Just peel and cook potatoes. Or some say, it will taste better if you cook then peel. Suka hati la macam mana pun.

Prep: he peeled the potatoes and cooked them in the microve. Yes ladies, he used the microwave.
Runny Butter Sauce
Prep: he put some butter in the glass jar and put it in the oven to melt. Bak kata orang kl..senang jerrrrrr...
When assembled they look like this.
Usually served with beer. Betui tak tipu!
Gempaq lagi..
ikut suka hang la labu nak minum ayaq apa..gin tonic ka, setan tonic ka, laici ka, sirap sarbat ka...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did the meal taste originally german?
Verdict (the native German) : Ya, sedap. OldSkool habis.
Verdict (the native Penang) : Hmm???*mulut penuh* Nom..nom..nom...*angguk2!* (ish dasar pelahap!)
p/s: Sauerkraut has an aquired taste. Tak semua orang bleh suka rasa Sauerkraut ni. Macam tempoyak lerr.. Try at your own risk!
